Frequently Asked Questions

What is a coach?

To start, coaches are not mentors or therapists. Coaches work alongside an individual as they aim to achieve their goals, helping clients through asking questions for self-reflection. It is this self-reflection that helps you identify the root cause, often a misconception or flawed thought, and potential solutions to problems you are facing. A formal definition can be found at the Internal Coaching Federation website.

Why should I consider coaching?

Anyone should consider coaching to enhance their experience while working to achieve their goals, big or small.
Factors that you should consider coaching:
Feeling stuck or like a failure
Feeling overwhelmed
Lack of focus and/or motivation
Not having time to do what is most important to you
Working hard but not seeing any results

Situations that coaching could be really beneficial for:
Return to work from maternity leave
Planning for or starting a new position or career transition
Taking on a new leadership role

What happens during a coaching session?

The topic of discussion is determined by you. I engage in active listening and ask thoughtful questions related to your topic to help you gain insight into yourself and identify solutions. A session ends with prompts for you to recall your new insights and practical next steps.
